Act4water Standard

The framework for water footprint offsetting

Act4water has created a standard to enable water footprint offsetting while promoting projects that generate a positive impact on water and the environment.

The Act4water standard brings credibility and homogeneity to water offset projects and allows the translation of their impact into CAPs (Positive Water Credits). The standard establishes the requirements for obtaining the Water+ label for offset projects and the generation of accredited CAPs, also providing a common and transparent guideline for reporting and offsetting the organizational water footprint.

We propose a rigorous regulatory framework and a voluntary CAP market subject to an external verification process, achieving:

  • That companies wishing to voluntarily mitigate the negative effects of their activities on water resources can do so in a reliable and traceable manner.
  • Stimulate the implementation of initiatives for the preservation and recovery of water resources thanks to this new source of private financing.

With this standard, organizations, projects and ACT4water can join forces and adapt to the effects of climate change.

Accredited entity for external verification

We include collaborators specialized in independent external verification to provide comfort and guarantee maximum traceability, veracity and transparency throughout the process to the parties involved.
