Act4Water - Building a water positive future

Mobile Desalination in Sint Eustatius

The Xploration Coastline Concept introduces mobile desalination units on Sint Eustatius and similar islands to address water scarcity and the impacts of climate change by providing freshwater for agricultural irrigation. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on limited and costly municipal water sources. The system incorporates reverse osmosis technology combined with renewable energy sources to support local food production and create both direct and indirect employment opportunities. Emphasising social innovation and community engagement, the project enhances local capacity through education, governance, and collaborative initiatives. By supplying a consistent, sustainable water source for agriculture, the Xploration Coastline Concept mitigates local water shortages, bolsters food security, and fosters resilient, community-driven resource management.

Positive impact

% CAPs compensated 0%

CAPs (Credits Aqua Positive), also known as water credits, are a unit that measures the positive impact of projects on water resources.

1 CAP = 1,000 m³ of water footprint saved

CAP eq, or CAP equivalents, are calculated using the ISO 14046 methodology, which adjusts the value of CAPs by considering water stress in the region.
