Restoration of the Doñana wetlands

The environmental restoration project in Doñana has enabled the recovery of three historically dry lagoons—Dehesa de Abajo, Pardillas, and San Lázaro—and the creation of a new one, El Lince. These actions have facilitated the accumulation of rainwater, increasing the availability of water resources in one of the country’s most vulnerable and valuable areas. Additionally, the recovery and creation of these wetlands support local biodiversity by restoring essential habitats for protected species and contributing to the resilience of ecosystems in the face of drought and climate change.

Positive impact

% CAPs compensated 100%

CAPs (Credits Aqua Positive), also known as water credits, are a unit that measures the positive impact of projects on water resources.

1 CAP = 1,000 m³ of water footprint saved

CAP eq, or CAP equivalents, are calculated using the ISO 14046 methodology, which adjusts the value of CAPs by considering water stress in the region.
