Act4Water - Building a water positive future

Mobile Desalination in Curaçao

The Xploration Coastline Concept, a water distribution and treatment concept led by OceansX, proposes a mobile water desalination unit to supply agricultural water in Curaçao. By supplying agricultural water, the project seeks to strengthen Curaçao’s agricultural sector, thereby decreasing its heavy dependence on food imports and its susceptibility to supply chain disruptions. The mobile water desalination system incorporates reverse osmosis technology combined with renewable energy sources to supply agricultural water that supports local food production. By providing agricultural water to the island, the project also delivers social, economic, and environmental benefits. The Xploration Coastline Concept will enhance the island’s resilience, creating ripple effects that extend to other islands in the Caribbean region.

CAPs (Credits Aqua Positive), also known as water credits, are a unit that measures the positive impact of projects on water resources.

1 CAP = 1,000 m³ of water footprint saved

CAP eq, or CAP equivalents, are calculated using the ISO 14046 methodology, which adjusts the value of CAPs by considering water stress in the region.
